2003 - How It All Started

There are so many children across the world that don’t have access to healthcare and the life expectancy is very short.

LOLOKRI is a grassroot NGO founded in 1994 in Cameroon, whose mission is to fight poverty amd itsravages. This amazing organization launched a humanitarian mission trip in 2003, thereby inviting a motley group of over 50 Americans to get involved on its ongoing projects in the areas of health, education, cultural exchange etc.

I would like to highlight my hands on involvement in the area of health.

At 04 years old, I was part of LOLOKRI’s RESTORATION CAMEROON trip, the first largest diverse group of Americans who came for humanitarian purposes. What moved and saddened me the most was to see that children just like me were living the harsh realities of not having access of proper education and health care, many necessities which we all take for granted. During the free consultation and free medical supplies and equipment offered by the doctors and volunteers, one of the pediatric cardiologist in the team, Dr. Smith identified a 9 year old girl named Solange who was born a congenital heart defect and who urgently needed an open heart surgery to have her heart repaired so she could live an amazing life like every other child

fter this trip to Cameroon, in 2003, I had the opportunity to give Solange (09 years old) comfort knowing she had traveled so far away to Austin, TX from her hometown in Cameroon). it left me thinking of a way by which to who dont have access to doctors and facilities that can give them the proper medical treatments.

Having had the opportunity to see Solange with a repaired heart and lots of self esteem as she could go to school and live like a normal girl

ept coming through my mind i was really fortunate. the i was immediately heart broken as i saw the amount of work that had to be done and the terrible state in which these children had to go to school. heading
Volunteer

Without any follow up and treatment, they can get it fixed in one surgery and go back home and live healthy and happy lives. We raise money for little children who are born with congenital heart defects. We partnered with organisations
all can be done by taking action so i could turn my back or take action. first thing to do was start by the most the latrine x water x health as well as for the infrastructure. back to school it pours cats and dogs. how can children’s sit in classes

Today nearly 3 million actions have been taken against extreme poverty.
